Tess Johnson’s Big Win in Finland

Tess Johnson’s Big Win in Finland

At The Inn at Riverwalk, we’re continually inspired by the incredible athletes who call our community home, and few exemplify grit, grace, and unshakable determination quite like U.S. Moguls Skier Tess Johnson.

As part of Tess’ Track, our ongoing partnership and storytelling series that follows Tess through the Moguls World Cup circuit and toward the 2026 Winter Olympics, we’re excited to share her latest update from Finland. Tess opened the Olympic year with a standout victory at the Finland World Cup, and we couldn’t be prouder to support her as she pushes toward another unforgettable season!

A Note from Tess

Happy holidays to all from cold and snowy Finland!

I’m thrilled to have won the first World Cup of the Olympic year in Finland and hold the yellow bib as the current world #1. This result means the world to me, and I had so much fun skiing with my teammates, who also performed amazingly! We are staying in Finland for another week to train, and then it’s home for Christmas before the next World Cups after the New Year — Val St Come on January 9-10 and Deer Valley on January 16-17. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season, especially with the 2026 Olympics in February in Milano/Cortina. Each World Cup leading into the Games is a qualifying event, and while Finland went great, Val St Come and Deer Valley will serve as more opportunities to qualify. Ultimately, my focus is aimed towards skiing better and faster than I did here in Finland and continuing to strive for mastery in the moguls. This journey has been so fun, and I can’t wait to embrace all that’s to come. Thank you all so much for the support, and stay tuned for more!

About Tess’ Track

For those new to it, Tess’ Track is where we follow the journey of Tess Johnson, Olympic freestyle mogul skier and Vail Valley local. Tess learned to ski at Beaver Creek when she was just two years old, fell in love with moguls soon after, and joined the U.S. Ski Team at fourteen.

She has since competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics, earned multiple World Cup podiums across the globe, and trained nearly year-round while also studying through the Harvard Extension School. She now lives and trains in Salt Lake City but proudly considers the Vail Valley her home mountain community.

Tess’ Track gives guests, locals, and fans an inside look at her training, travels, achievements, and her continued push toward another Olympic appearance. Explore her full story, current standings, and season results here:
