Family, food and fun. These are the most important components of a successful 4th of July celebration. In an area where daily life, tourism, business, and past times are largely rooted in a well protected natural environment, we all understand how vital it is to take the Stage 2 fire ban seriously. That means no fireworks on the 4th.
If there is one thing the Vail Valley knows how to do, it is to celebrate. Seriously, we have a tradition called FAC, or Friday Afternoon Club, which is an excuse to sit on patios with friends and a cold drink on Fridays throughout the summer. We have free concerts almost weekly. We have block parties, craft beer classics, arts festivals, and rodeos. The point is, a few missing fireworks won't prevent us from celebrating and having a blast!
Avon's Salute to the USA Where? Nottingham Park" When? July 3rd 5pm-9:15pm What? Food vendors, face painters, balloon sculptors, magicians, and music. Music: Dearling Band 5:45pm-7:15pm and Arapahoe Philharmonic 7:45pm-9:15pm *Tip: walk, ride, skate, roll or boogie, but don't bother driving to Nottingham Park. This event is pop-u-lar, which makes parking difficult. If you need to drive, you will likely be parking a 10-15 minute walk away from the park. The Eco Bus stops steps from the park and is an inexpensive alternative. The weather is supposed to be beautiful, so driving really isn't necessary.
